Having had the perfect season with a stack of silverware and not a loss in sight it would have appeared that it could not get any better for St. Mary’s and the lads in Team Garvey’s, however, it did.  Last week Basketball Ireland announced details of the end of year awards and Team Garvey’s hot shot player Declan Wall was named senior player of the year for the second time while coach extraordinaire Brian Clernon was named senior coach of the year.   Declan Wall has been a member of St. Mary’s since he first bounced a basketball was recipient of this award also for the 06/07 season.  Spectators are always assured a display when watching Wall play whether it is from his constant accuracy in three-point shooting or simply the cheeky way he will take on a 6’6 opponent.  In this years league final with just seven seconds remaining Declan set up the final score for Dan Griffin to see the league title come to the Island.
